DATA Officially Established Strategic Partnership with Kakao’s Klaytn Blockchain
On July 9th, 2019, DATA officially established a comprehensive strategic partnership with the blockchain platform Klaytn from Kakao Ground X. At the same time, June 27th is also the official launch day of Klaytn’s mainnet. DATA will be one of Klaytn’s important partners, jointly building and expanding the ecosystem with Klaytn, and carrying out more in-depth cooperation in the global blockchain industry.
The Vision for Cooperation of DATA and Kakao’s Klaytn
From 2018 to 2019, we witnessed the application and contribution to the blockchain industry from the world’s three major internet companies. From Telegram’s Telegram Open Network (TON) to Kakao’s Klaytn to Facebook’s recently released Libra, internet giants from different countries have joined the blockchain industry, hoping to bring blockchain into daily life, providing users with more convenient, fast and reliable trading methods, and developers with a more friendly, open and advanced technology ecological platform. Undoubtedly, blockchain technology and application will surely become mainstream in the future, and the official presence of the global giant internet companies will bring hundreds of millions of real users. Together, internet giants, individual users, and developers will be the founders, participants, and witnesses of the blockchain history.
South Korea is the world’s largest country with the highest blockchain penetration and participation, while Kakao has a 96% market share in the Korean mobile market, with nearly 50 million active, authentic, high-quality users. Kakao’s business involves communications, games, content services, financial services and mobile services. Its communication application KakaoTalk is called the “Korean version of WeChat.” As early as March last year, Kakao announced plans to launch a blockchain platform, and in October it released a test version of Klaytn, which focused on the actual commercialization of decentralized applications. Recently, Kakao once again raised $90 million in the investment for Klaytn. Last December, the company announced plans to raise a total of $300 million through Ground X for technology development. Klaytn’s mainnet was launched on June 27, 2019 as scheduled, and according to media reports, Kakao plans to integrate cryptocurrency wallet in its application after the Klaytn mainnet goes online.
DATA’s Cooperation with Kakao’s Klaytn
In December 2018, DATA and Kakao Ground X officially cooperated to incubate the first blockchain application of DATA ecosystem, Antube, and officially released the alpha version on January 1, 2019, which has accumulated over 250,000 users. After close cooperation in the past six months, the two sides also decided to further deepen the cooperation in the blockchain field, and formally established a strategic partnership on July 9, 2019. DATA also officially joined the Klaytn ecosystem as an Initial Serivce Partner (ISP).
In terms of commercialization: DATA’s current blockchain product is based on the mobile advertising SDK, including mobile advertising, DATA blockchain wallet, and M3 mobile distributed data storage technology module. Compared to the application of the top-level industry’s predecessor, Basic Attention Token (BAT), in its Brave browser, DATA is more focused on the implementation of the blockchain technology in the mobile internet industry, because the mobile side occupies the most user attention and time. The DATA SDK is currently officially launched in the Antube project. With the deep cooperation with Klaytn, DATA will further expand its partners in its ecosystem.
In terms of technology: DATA plans to integrate Kakao’s mainnet Klaytn. According to the white paper, DATA’s mainnet, which was officially launched in December 2018, is based on the secondary development of the mature global mainnet technology to support the implementation of its core technology M3 mobile distributed storage technology in practical, commercial scenarios. After more than half a year of discussion and communication, Kakao’s mainnet Klaytn can fully support DATA technology and product requirements, and can also seamlessly switch with DATA mainnet. Therefore, the DATA technical team decided that after the formal cooperation between the two parties, its core technologies and products will be run on Klaytn to facilitate better docking with Klaytn eco partners. The DATA team plans to start Token Swap after completing the technical docking, and will further release the corresponding plans in the same period.
The Strategic Significance of DATA’s Cooperation with Kakao’s Klaytn
South Korea is the market with the highest user penetration and acceptance in the global blockchain industry, while Kakao has more than 50 million active users in Korea. DATA’s cooperation with the Kakao blockchain will help further expand and promote the strategic planning in the commercialization of DATA in the Korean and global markets. This cooperation will inject more users and potential partners for the DATA project to provide a better foundation and foundation for its ecological development. At the same time, the in-depth cooperation with Kakao’s Klaytn mainnet will help strengthen the brand value and influence of DATA in Korea and the world, and promote the development of DATA ecosystem.
